Rahul death probe gains pace, cops scan bank a/cs

Lucknow: The investigation into the death of young drone innovator Rahul Singh has gathered pace, with Lucknow police seeking bank account details of the deceased and the prime accused as part of its probe into the alleged abetment to suicide case.Police have asked Rahul’s brother Rohit Singh to provide details of Rahul’s bank accounts. Investigators are also examining the bank transactions of Chandrabhushan Mishra, the Noida-based businessman named in the FIR, to verify allegations of financial dealings between the two.According to police, forensic examination of Rahul’s mobile phone has yielded several crucial digital leads, including chats and call records exchanged with Mishra. Investigators have also found WhatsApp conversations allegedly referring to financial transactions, which are now being analysed.Inspector Upendra Singh, leading the investigation, said Mishra informed police that Rahul had shared photographs of himself with leaders from the ruling party. Police are examining the relevance of those photographs in the context of the investigation. Authorities will soon issue notices to Mishra, his sons Tapish and Udit and daughter Tarini, all of whom have been named in the FIR. Their statements will be recorded after they appear before the investigating officer.The police are also expected to question a retired govt officer whose name has surfaced during the investigation.Meanwhile, Rahul’s mother and sister have levelled fresh allegations against teachers associated with two educational institutions, claiming the young innovator had been subjected to prolonged mental harassment over the past several months. The family has also pointed to social media posts in which Rahul had allegedly sought protection, claiming he feared for his safety. The police said they are verifying the authenticity of the viral posts and, if found genuine, will include them as evidence in the investigation.Investigators have also sought a report from Basti police regarding Rahul’s earlier complaints, including allegations that his grievances were not acted upon and that an FIR was instead registered against him.Rahul Singh, a drone innovator from Maharajganj, was found dead in a room at Novotel Hotel in Lucknow’s Vibhuti Khand area on Tuesday. Following the incident, his brother lodged an FIR accusing Mishra, his sons Tapish and Udit and daughter Tarini of abetting Rahul’s suicide.
