Bathinda: Punjab agriculture minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian inaugurated the first bio-fertiliser quality control laboratory in the state and laid the foundation stone of a seed testing laboratory in Bathinda on Friday.The lab is meant to check the quality of bio-fertilisers and ensure availability of quality agricultural inputs to farmers. Addressing a gathering, Khuddian said the Punjab govt is committed to providing farmers with high-quality seeds, fertilisers and other agricultural inputs. The establishment of a seed testing laboratory would enable more effective scientific testing of seed quality, while the bio-fertiliser quality control laboratory would ensure quality standards. The minister said the lab can test at least 1,000 samples every year. Khuddian also called upon all political parties and Sikhs to rise above party lines and lodge a protest against Maharashtra government’s move to repeal 1956 Hazur Sahib Act 1956.
