Pune: Premium tiffin services are witnessing strong demand in Pune’s IT corridors as working professionals increasingly seek healthy, gourmet meal options that go beyond traditional home-cooked food.Many consumers, particularly young IT professionals, students living in PG accommodations and bachelors, are opting for subscription-based meal plans featuring high-protein diets, global cuisines, organic ingredients and calorie-counted menus instead of conventional ‘ghar ka khana’.“My wife and I have different meal preferences as she is vegan, so we subscribe to a tiffin service that caters to both our needs.

The meals are delivered directly to our respective offices,” said Nayan Poddar, a resident of Wakad.Gaurav Sachdev, a resident of Magarpatta, said, “My work timings are erratic. I live alone and rarely cook, so I signed up for a healthy tiffin service because it’s a better option than ordering restaurant food every day,” he said.Jitendra Yadav, who runs Daily Tiffins, delivers over 300 tiffins, primarily to customers in Kharadi and Vimannagar. “We currently provide home-style meals, but we are developing a premium menu in response to growing demand for gourmet food. We plan to introduce salads and international cuisine options soon,” he said.Subscription-based tiffin services typically offer single-person meals priced between Rs 100 and Rs 200, depending on the cuisine. Tiffin providers are also consulting nutrition experts to redesign their menus with high-protein, low-fat, vegan and gluten-free meal options.An owner of a tiffin service in Baner said delivery of premium food costs more. “We use high-quality ingredients and cooking oil, which is why our prices are slightly higher. Most of our customers are working professionals, as students are generally more price-sensitive,” the owner said.Digvijay Satankar, who runs Shravani Tiffin Services in Hinjewadi, said, “At present, we are seeing strong demand for traditional Maharashtrian food. We supply over 100 tiffins across Hinjewadi, primarily to IT professionals. We’ll see how customer preferences evolve.”While most local tiffin providers offer fixed meal options, online subscription-based platforms provide customised plans.“I opted for an online tiffin subscription because it is more structured. A nutritionist designs a meal plan tailored to a specific goal. It is definitely more expensive than local tiffin services, but it has helped me eat healthier and lose weight,” said Sagar Chauhan, a resident of Hadapsar.
