Guwahati/Dibrugarh: Kamrup (Metropolitan) district administration has said shops, educational institutions and public transport services will continue normally, even as residents eagerly await one of the most anticipated moments in the electoral calendar.Despite the heightened political atmosphere, district administration has clarified that there will be no general shutdown across the city and minimal disruption to daily life will be ensured. “There will be no closure of schools or suspension of transport apart from the mandatory restrictions around the counting centre,” said Kamrup (Metropolitan) district commissioner Swapneel Paul.Strict security and regulatory measures will be enforced in and around the counting centre. These restrictions are part of standard protocol to ensure a smooth, transparent and secure counting process. “Any person who contravenes this order shall be liable to penal action under Section 223 of the BNSS Act, and under any applicable provisions of the law,” the DC added.However, they added that these restrictions would not hamper citizen’s movement.All political parties have been advised not to hold any victory rallies after the declaration of election results. Political parties said celebrations will be held, but in a regulated manner. Media relations convenor of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Dewan Dhrubajyoti Maral, said, “We will have a congregation at our headquarters for tomorrow. If our party wins, there will be a celebration, but it will be held with utmost humility and there will not be any victory processions carried in the city. This direction has been given to every district unit as well.”In Dibrugarh as well, no restriction on movement of public vehicles have been imposed by the district administration, with a district official confirming that buses and other forms of public transport will operate normally.“Daily life will not be affected across the city. Public transport and shops will function normally. We only urge residents to stay away from the counting centre area,” the official said.
