Mohali: The power situation in Mohali district is grim, with residents of Nayagaon alleging that supply has been disrupted for nearly three days. In Zirakpur, consumers complained of unscheduled night-time cuts and low voltage.Complaints on PSPCL’s social media handle and grievance portal reflect growing consumer frustration over prolonged outages, erratic supply and inadequate response to complaints.Neeraj Kumar of Nayagaon said residents had been forced to cope without electricity for three days and there had been no response to their complaints. The prolonged outage had also affected household work, said area resident Sheela Rani.PSPCL superintending engineer H S Oberai said the disruption in Nayagaon was caused by a failure of the VCB of the 11-KV Nayagaon feeders during the night. The load of the affected feeder was shifted to other feeders, but five transformers could not be charged because of overloading.He said load shifting was undertaken to restore supply. “The problem has been fixed and power has been restored,” Oberai said.Meanwhile, residents of Zirakpur have raised concerns over frequent unscheduled power cuts, particularly at night, saying the disruptions were affecting sleep and daily routines. Consumers have also complained of low voltage, raising concerns about possible damage to electrical appliances.A Rs 184 crore 220-KV substation has been planned near Nabha Sahib gurdwara in Zirakpur. Collector rate for the 4.9 acres of land required for the project has been fixed at Rs 4 crore per acre.A meeting to finalise the land price was held at the Mohali deputy commissioner’s office and attended by Dera Bassi MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa. PSPCL superintending engineer, Zirakpur, Amandeep Singh said around Rs 184 crore had been allocated for the project and work would begin after possession of the land. DC Komal Mittal said the required land would be made available at the determined price.
