Surat: City police’s detection of crime branch (DCB) rescued a kidnapped eight-month-old boy during a late-night 20-minute action at Surat railway station under the “Operation Muskan” initiative on Saturday.Police said the DCB team was on patrol when they received information that a woman, identified as Aarti alias Zarina Jaiswal, 22, had allegedly kidnapped the infant from a family of labourers sleeping on a footpath on Dimtimkar Road in Nagpada, Mumbai, earlier in the day. The accused had reportedly brought the child to Surat and was planning to flee from Surat railway station with a friend. A kidnapping case was registered at Nagpada police station. Acting on the tip-off, a team of 20 police personnel launched a search at Surat railway station and intercepted the accused on the platform before she could board a train. The entire operation lasted about 20 minutes, police said. Jaiswal is a resident of the Khalori riverbank area in Kasara, near Kalyan in Thane district. Police said arrangements were being made to hand over Jaiswal, her friend and the rescued child to Nagpada police for further procedures.
