Ghaziabad: Five persons were arrested in Shalimar Garden on Wednesday for manufacturing counterfeit medicines and supplements and packaging with labels of genuine companies, police said.DCP (Trans-Hindon and City) Dhawal Jaiswal said police received a tip-off about a group manufacturing these fake medicines from a warehouse in Shalimar Garden. A team raided the spot and arrested Dilip Pandey (39), Veerbhaan alias Ravi (34), Rohit Bakshi alias Laddu (35), Honey Kulshrestha (28) and Aryan Kumar (24) on Wednesday. Supplements worth about Rs 50 lakh were recovered from their possession.The men use names and monograms of reputed companies on the bottles and packs of the counterfeit supplements to sell them at a higher price, he added.“During interrogation, Pandey and Ravi said the godown is owned by a Lalit Sharma, a resident of New Vijaynagar. The raw material used to produce the medicines as well as the packaging equipment, like plastic bottles, printing labels and cartons, are provided to them by Mohit and Adil, residents of Delhi. The finished products are then sent to Lalit, Honey, Rohit and Aryan, who sell them in their shops,” the DCP said.Lalit and Rohit own the shops in Nutrition Adda and Nutrition World in Vijay Nagar.Police also found that Honey manages Lalit’s business while Aryan is his accountant. Rohit is his nephew. Efforts are on to track Lalit, an officer said.An FIR has been registered against all five accused at Shalimar Garden police station.
