PMK candidate Balu’s vision for Thiruporur: Metro rail, clean water, and many more

CHENNAI: PMK candidate advocate K Balu has released a comprehensive manifesto promising a radical transformation of the Thiruporur constituency. Highlighting the region’s rapid urbanisation, Balu’s “Vision for Thiruporur” focuses on bridging the gap between its growing high-tech infrastructure and the basic needs of its residents.The central pillar of the manifesto is the expansion of Chennai’s transport network into the suburbs. Balu has committed to the expansion of Chennai metro rail service to Thiruporur and Mamallapuram to prevent severe traffic congestion on Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR).

He promised to establish a comprehensive underground drainage system to prevent solid waste and sewage from polluting local water bodies. Addressing the “water-tanker culture” prevalent in the constituency, he pledged to bring Metropolitan water and sewage services to the constituency.Balu has taken a strong stance on ensuring that the region’s economic growth benefits its native population. He pushed for legislation to mandate job reservation for the residents in local private firms in the constituency. The candidate has promised the establishment of a govt multi-speciality hospital in Thiruporur to address the lack of emergency medical facilities. This facility is intended to prevent fatalities caused by the long travel times to Chennai or Chengalpet for critical care.
