Margao: A woman riding pillion died, and the scooter rider was injured after an unidentified vehicle rammed their two-wheeler from behind at Raloi in Salcete early Thursday. The driver fled without helping the victims or informing the police.The accident occurred shortly after midnight near Raloi colony. Police said Shashi Kumar was riding a scooter with Dipika Kumar as pillion, travelling from Mugali towards Chandor, when an unidentified vehicle struck the scooter from the rear. Both were thrown onto the road and suffered grievous injuries.They were taken to the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH) in Margao, where Dipika was declared dead on arrival. Police said both were natives of Bihar and residents of Maina, Curtorim.Maina-Curtorim police registered a case against the unidentified driver under Sections 281 (rash driving), 125(b) (act endangering life or personal safety of others causing grievous hurt) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 134(a) and 134(b) of the Motor Vehicles Act, which cover the duty to arrange medical aid for the injured and to report the accident to the police.
