Pune: Students who appeared for the NEET-UG 2026 re-test on Sunday described the paper as moderately difficult, with many saying physics was the most challenging section while biology was comparatively easier. The examination was conducted smoothly at centres across Pune under enhanced security arrangements.“Biology was easy and mostly based on concepts we had prepared. Physics was lengthy and calculation-intensive, which made it difficult to complete on time,” said Riya Kulkarni, a candidate who appeared at a centre in Pune city.Aditya Patil, another aspirant, said the paper required a strong conceptual understanding. “Physics was definitely the toughest section for me. Chemistry was manageable, but there were a few tricky questions. Overall, it was a fair paper,” he said.Several students said the examination differed from their expectations.“I felt biology was designed to test attention to detail. Some questions looked simple but required careful reading. Chemistry was moderate, while physics took up most of my time,” said Sneha Jadhav from Pimpri Chinchwad.Yash Shah, who appeared at a centre in Pune, welcomed the smooth conduct of the examination. “The exam started on time, and there were no major issues at my centre. After all the uncertainty surrounding the re-test, it was good to see the process conducted smoothly,” he said. Some students felt the science subjects were more challenging than in previous years.“Physics and chemistry were more application-based than I expected. One could not solve many questions through memorisation alone,” said Pranav Deshmukh, a candidate from Kothrud.Others were satisfied despite finding the paper difficult.“The paper was tough, especially physics, but I am happy that the examination was conducted fairly. Now everything depends on the results,” said Tanvi More, another aspirant.Parents waiting outside examination centres expressed relief after the test concluded without any visible disruptions.“My daughter had been under stress for weeks because of the uncertainty. The important thing is that she finally got an opportunity to take the examination peacefully,” said Pune resident Ashwini Kulkarni.Students said the paper’s difficulty level would ultimately be reflected in the cut-offs and results. Most candidates, however, agreed that physics required the greatest effort, while biology was comparatively easier. The National Testing Agency is expected to release the provisional answer key in the coming weeks.
