Jaipur: A mobile phone was recovered from former Behror MLA Baljeet Yadav during a search at Jaipur Central Jail Wednesday, with jail officials alleging that he had hidden the device inside a blanket.The search was conducted around noon in Ward No. 5 of the jail. Officials said a Kachoda company mobile phone was found in Yadav’s possession and seized.Jail guard Vishnu Kumar subsequently submitted a report at Lal Kothi police station, following which a case was registered. The phone has been handed over to police for investigation.Police will question Yadav about how the phone reached him inside the jail and who supplied it. Investigators are also expected to obtain the device’s call detail records to identify people he may have contacted while in custody.The recovery comes amid intensified searches at Jaipur Central Jail. During a search on Wednesday, mobile phones were recovered from eight inmates, while 13 phones had been seized from inmates two days earlier. Cases were registered in both instances.Yadav is in judicial custody in a case involving alleged embezzlement of more than Rs 3 crore from MLA Local Area Development Fund. The case relates to the alleged buy of badminton and cricket kits for 32 govt schools in his Behror constituency at prices several times higher than market rates.ACB registered a corruption case against Yadav in December 2024. Enforcement Directorate later arrested him on Feb 3, 2026, after filing a prosecution complaint. He was sent to judicial custody by a special court in Jaipur on Feb 7 after completion of his remand.
