Chandigarh: Teachers and representatives of various student organisations Saturday demanded the cancellation and re-conduct of the Punjab pharmacy recruitment examination, alleging irregularities in the recruitment process and calling for greater transparency in govt recruitments.Addressing a press conference at Panjab University, the groups alleged that the pharmacy recruitment examination was compromised after the question paper was allegedly sent outside an examination centre and solved during the test. Claiming the incident amounted to a paper leak, they urged the Punjab govt to hold a fresh examination to ensure fairness for all candidates.The organisations also demanded that the Punjab govt table a white paper in the state assembly detailing all govt recruitments carried out over the past four years. They said the document should clarify the govt’s recruitment claims and provide a transparent account of the appointments made during the period.Among their other demands were the establishment of an independent examination agency for the Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB), implementation of an annual recruitment calendar, and inclusion of marks secured in the Punjabi language paper in the final merit list for recruitment examinations.The groups said these measures would improve transparency, accountability and predictability in the recruitment process while safeguarding the interests of candidates.They also warned that if no action was taken on their demands within 10 days, they would launch a statewide agitation.
