Bhilwara: PCC member Manoj Paliwal Tuesday held Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra responsible for the rejection of nominations of 17 candidates in Bhilwara municipal elections after their party symbols failed to reach the election officer by the 3pm deadline on Aug 31.Paliwal alleged that Dotasra was responsible for sending the candidates’ names along with their symbols in a sealed envelope to the election officer. He said the failure to do so deprived 17 candidates of the opportunity to contest the civic elections.Addressing a press conference, Paliwal said of the 70 wards in Bhilwara municipal body, symbols of 53 Congress candidates reached the election office on time, while those of 17 candidates did not, resulting in rejection of their nominations Monday.“The responsibility for all this work lay with Dotasra. He was to allot in the symbols, place them in a sealed envelope, hand them to the district in-charge, and have them delivered to the election officer,” Paliwal said.Paliwal said he has written to Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge seeking an impartial inquiry and action against those responsible. “I have demanded an inquiry and action against the guilty so that such an incident is not repeated with Congress workers in the upcoming Panchayat Raj elections,” he said.
