With an aim to get maximum revenue in the first two months of the current financial year, Chandigarh municipal commissioner Amit Kumar on Wednesday asked the public to pay the amount within stipulated time to avail property tax rebate. While residential property owners will get 20% rebate, commercial property owners will get 10% discount. This rebate will be applicable till May 31, after which the residents will have to pay penalty as well as interest.It is said that since tax amount is a major source of revenue for the municipal corporation, the amount will be utilised for providing essential civic services such as sanitation, road maintenance, water supply and urban development works across the city.The citizens have also been advised to check their current demand along with any arrears on the official e-Sampark portal before making the payment and ensure that the dues are cleared within the stipulated rebate period in order to avail the applicable rebate benefits. tnn
