Panaji: After a delay of over two years, the climbing wall at EDC Patto Plaza has opened to the public. Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) has partnered with Goan outdoor adventure agency Adventure Breaks to operate the facility.“The launch of the Smart City Climbing Wall marks the addition of a dedicated climbing facility within the public realm infrastructure developed by IPSCDL. The facility has been created to provide residents and visitors with access to a structured space for climbing, recreation, and physical activity. The facility is expected to contribute to greater awareness and participation in the sport,” said IPSCDL chief general manager Eduardo Pereira.The climbing wall will be open to the public every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6pm to 9pm. It will also be available for student groups, educational institutions, corporate team-building sessions and birthday parties through prior bookings, IPSCDL officials said.Designed for people of all age groups and skill levels, the facility offers a safe environment for both beginners and experienced climbers. Equipped with internationally compliant safety systems and qualified climbing coaches, it aims to make the sport more accessible while promoting fitness, recreation and skill development, officials said.Climbing is among the fastest-growing sports globally and is recognised as an Olympic sport.
