Passenger ‘spots’ snake in compartment, train halted near Daund

Pune: A passenger on board the S2 coach of 01449 Pune-Danapur Special Express spotted a snake while the train was about to reach Daund Chord Line station on Thursday.Hemant Kumar Behera, the divisional commercial manager and PRO of the Pune division, said the train had started from Pune around 3.50pm and reached the Daund Chord Line station around 6pm. “With a passenger claiming that a snake had been spotted, the train was stopped at the station for around one and half hours. Here, all passengers in the compartment were shifted and adjusted to other compartments and the entire compartment was sealed. The authorities called volunteers of Sarpmitra, an organisation which rescues snakes. They searched the compartment thoroughly but couldn’t find anything,” the official said.Sources said that the passenger spotted the snake while the train was running near Patas. “However, as a precautionary measure, the compartment remained sealed until the train reached Kashti around 8pm. Here, the compartment was detached and a new compartment has been set up. The train, however, has been halted in Kashti to allow passing of other trains. It will start soon,” the official said.
