Panchkula: Panchkula Thursday conducted the final full-dress rehearsal for the district-level Independence Day celebrations, with police, home guards and NCC contingents participating in a ceremonial march past ahead of the main event on Aug 15.Deputy commissioner Satpal Sharma reviewed the preparations at Parade Ground, Sector 5, hoisted the national flag and took the salute during the rehearsal. DCP Aditi Singh was also present.Haryana women and child development minister Shruti Choudhry will be the chief guest at the district-level function and will hoist the Tricolour on Independence Day.The rehearsal featured contingents of Haryana Women Police, Haryana Police, home guards and NCC cadets from various institutions under the command of ACP Vikram Nehra. Students from different schools also presented patriotic cultural performances, PT displays and yoga demonstrations.Sharma said the celebrations would be marked by patriotic fervour and urged youngsters to draw inspiration from freedom fighters whose sacrifices secured the country’s Independence. He also reviewed arrangements and issued directions to officials to ensure seamless conduct of the event.
