Panchkula gears up for Har Ghar Tiranga drive from Aug 9

Panchkula: The district will observe the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign from Aug 9 to 17, while Partition Horrors Remembrance Day (Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas) will be commemorated on Aug 14 with patriotic events and public participation.Deputy commissioner Satpal Sharma reviewed preparations and directed all departments to complete arrangements in a coordinated manner.He said the campaign this year is centred on the theme “150 Years of the National Song: Vande Mataram”, with participation from govt departments, educational institutions, urban local bodies, social organisations and citizens.A range of activities, including Tiranga bike and cycle rallies, Tiranga Yatras, exhibitions on the national flag and Vande Mataram, the ‘Selfie with Tiranga’ campaign, tricolour illumination of public places, Tiranga rangoli displays and cultural programmes, will be organised across the district.Sharma said ‘Selfie with Tiranga’ points will be set up at prominent locations, while govt buildings, major intersections and other public spaces will be decorated in tricolour themes to create a patriotic atmosphere.He said the state-level Partition Horrors Remembrance Day programme will be held at Indradhanush Auditorium, Sector 5, Panchkula, on Aug 14, with Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini as the chief guest.Schools, colleges and other educational institutions will organise lectures, discussions, exhibitions, documentary screenings and awareness programmes highlighting the human tragedy of Partition, the hardships faced by displaced families and the sacrifices made during that period.The DC urged officials to ensure meticulous planning and called for active participation from social organisations, voluntary groups, NCC, NSS, Bharat Scouts and Guides, youth clubs and the public to make the campaign a mass movement.He also appealed to residents to hoist the national flag at their homes, commercial establishments and institutions and participate enthusiastically in the events being organised across the district.
