Varanasi: Over 97% of the total seats in the undergraduate programmes in Banaras Hindu University are filled as the university winds up regular rounds of UG admissions for academic session 2026–27. Of the total 4,826 seats up for grabs in the Varanasi and Barkachha campuses, 4,720 seats are occupied, accounting for 97.8% of the total number.The figure excludes seats under the Bachelor of Performing Arts (BPA) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) programmes. Practical rounds for these programmes being conducted will conclude soon.According to BHU spokesperson, as the regular round culminates, the university has now opened registration for the Spot Round of undergraduate admissions. Registrations began from Friday evening. Candidates seeking admission against the remaining seats can register for the Spot Round until Aug 24.The allotment of seats under the Spot Round will take place on Aug 25. Candidates are advised to complete the registration process within the stipulated timeline and regularly check the official admission portal for updates and further details.
