Over 18k voters mapped in special drive: Ludhiana ADC

Ludhiana: Ludhiana additional deputy commissioner Poonam Singh announced on Monday that 18,718 voters were successfully mapped during a special camp drive held on February 7. Meeting with representatives of both recognised and unrecognised political parties, she urged them to immediately appoint booth-level agents (BLAs) across all polling stations to help maximise voter mapping coverage before the next electoral phase. To streamline the verification process, the office of the chief electoral officer (CEO), Punjab, has already shared the list of unmapped voters with political parties. Because local booth-level officers (BLOs) hold the exact same list, the ADC advised BLAs to coordinate directly with them to verify unmapped citizens and assist in completing their registration. Out of Ludhiana’s total 2,684,361 voters, 2,048,484 have already been mapped.Singh also called for active political participation in the upcoming special intensive revision exercise, noting that the Election Commission of India has released a revised schedule for Punjab. Under the new timeline, house-to-house enumeration will commence on June 25, followed by the publication of draft electoral rolls on August 3.The period for filing claims and objections will run from August 3 to September 2, while the subsequent notice phase and final disposal of these claims will take place between August 3 and September 28, 2026. The administration emphasised that every effort is being made to finish this pre-mapping outreach before the physical house-to-house enumeration begins.
