Rajkot: A real estate dealer alleged that ownership of his Rs 19-lakh Suzuki Hayabusa was fraudulently transferred in RTO records, after the motorcycle’s original RC book went missing. Police registered a case against the man in whose name it was transferred, allegedly by using forged documents, a forged signature and altered mobile number details.Pradhyuman Nagar police registered an FIR against one Ravirajsinh Zala based on a complaint by Yuvrajsinh Rathod, 37, for forgery and using forged documents as genuine.According to the FIR, Rathod bought the high-end motorcycle from a showroom in Surat in Feb 2026 for an on-road price of Rs 19 lakh. He also paid Rs 2,08,000 in an RTO auction to obtain a VIP registration number. On June 5, 2026, Rathod lent the motorcycle, with its original Registration Certificate (RC) book, to a friend in Morbi. When the bike developed a technical problem in early Sep, he brought it back to Rajkot for servicing. At that stage, the friend told him the original RC book had been misplaced and could not be found. The alleged fraud surfaced on Sep 19 when an acquaintance working as an RTO agent asked Rathod if he had sold the motorcycle. Rathod denied doing so and checked the vehicle details on the mParivahan application, where he found that the ownership records had been changed.Further verification through RTO agents showed that ownership of the motorcycle had been transferred to Zala on Sep 16.The FIR states that documents submitted for the transfer included the misplaced RC book, a Transfer of Title/Ownership form bearing Rathod’s alleged forged signature and copies of both of their Aadhaar cards. Rathod has alleged that his mobile number linked to the vehicle records was replaced with another number, allowing verification OTPs for the transfer to be diverted. Police said the motorcycle remains in Rathod’s possession.
