VELLORE: A woman gave birth to a baby boy on board a moving train on Tuesday morning, shortly after the train crossed Ambur in Tamil Nadu. The mother and the newborn were safely detrained at Katpadi railway station and shifted to a hospital. The passenger, Jamuna Majhi, wife of Jitu Sarakia, of Lanjigarh in Kalahandi district of Odisha, was travelling from Thrissur in Kerala to her native state with her husband.The couple were travelling in coach S5 of Ernakulam–Tatanagar Express. Around 5.30am, after the train crossed Ambur station and was moving between Gudiyattam and Katpadi, Jamuna went into labour and gave bird the baby.
