Bengaluru: A 21-year-old student of a private nursing college has accused the college chairman of sexual harassment. She alleged that the chairman made derogatory personal remarks by comparing her to his former girlfriend and threatened to fail her if she did not comply with his demands. The student, who filed a complaint with Bagalagunte police on April 19, also claimed that the college principal supported these threats.However, during investigation, police found that the college chairman had already filed a complaint on April 13 against the same student and her boyfriend for allegedly sharing defamatory content about him and the college on social media. The student, a resident of Thammenahalli living in the institution’s hostel, stated in her complaint that the alleged harassment began on Aug 9, 2025. She claimed that the chairman had repeatedly made derogatory and deeply personal remarks. Describing his behaviour as “perverse,” she said it created a hostile and distressing environment that affected her mental wellbeing and academic focus. She alleged that the situation escalated when the chairman began issuing threats tied to her academic future. He allegedly warned her that failure to comply with his expectations would result in her failing examinations and being denied essential academic certificates. According to the student, the college principal not only failed to intervene but also reinforced the pressure, allegedly telling her to obey the chairman’s instructions or risk severe consequences.A case was registered at Bagalagunte police station under BNS Sections 75 (sexual harassment) and 351 (criminal intimidation). The college chairman defended himself, saying he was open to police investigation. “The student was behaving abnormally and I’m shocked by the complaint filed by her. She has made false allegations. We did not terminate her. We permitted her to appear for the exam, but she did not appear for it. We have even issued internal marks. We are ready to face the probe by police,” he told TOI.
