Now, get fire safety nod first to get LDA look at bldg map

Lucknow: Fire safety will now be the first requirement for approval of building maps in Lucknow. The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has made it mandatory for buildings requiring a fire NOC to submit a valid certificate before their maps are approved.LDA vice-chairperson Prathamesh Kumar issued the order, making compliance with the UP Fire Safety and Emergency Services Act, 2022, and Rules, 2024 compulsory.Under the new system, maps of commercial and public-use buildings covered under fire safety norms will not be approved without a valid fire NOC issued by the fire department. For buildings not covered under mandatory fire NOC rules, including hotels, schools, hospitals and coaching centres below 15 mt in height or with an area of less than 500 sqmt, owners will have to submit an affidavit related to fire and electrical safety. They will also have to get a fire safety certificate or a fire audit conducted by the fire department within three months of map approval. Failure to comply will invite action. The new rules will apply to apartments, multi-storey houses, educational institutions, hospitals, hotels, guest houses, restaurants, banquet halls, coaching centres, libraries, banks, cinemas, theatres, gyms and other special-use buildings. LDA said the move aims to improve fire safety before construction begins.
