Mumbai: After Shiv Sena (UBT) corporator Deepak Sawant, AIMIM corporator Sameer Ramzan Patel too has lost his corporator seat as his caste certificate was declared invalid by the district caste validity committee.Patel was elected from Ward 137 in Govandi, which was reserved for the OBC category. Mayor Ritu Tawde announced Patel’s disqualification in the BMC general body meeting on Monday. Patel said he had received the disqualification order from the BMC commissioner on May 17 and thereafter moved the Bombay High Court.“A hearing is scheduled on June 25, but the mayor has gone ahead and announced the disqualification,” said Patel.AIMIM members said the mayor should have waited for the High Court hearing before going ahead with the disqualification.Earlier, Sawant who was elected from Ward 111 in Bhandup was disqualified.
