New Delhi: Soon, car users living within 20 km of a toll plaza will no longer need to visit it to buy a FASTag monthly local pass. They can obtain it through NHAI’s Rajmargyatra mobile app — and the facility will first be rolled out at Mundka toll plaza on Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) in Delhi within 7-10 days, a senior official said Sunday.It will then be extended to Bijwasan toll plaza on Dwarka Expressway, followed by other plazas across National Capital Region (NCR), and subsequently, rest of the country, TOI has learnt. “This will bring huge relief, as the process eliminates physical visits, if there is no discrepancy in details provided by a person while applying for monthly pass. Live testing has been carried out at Mundka toll plaza,” said an official.To get the highly discounted monthly pass — priced at Rs 340-350, depending on the plaza — through the app, applicants will be required to upload their Aadhaar and vehicle details. They will receive an OTP for the system to complete verification process automatically. Fetching PIN, the system will identify whether the address of the applicant and the vehicle registered in his/her name fall within the 20 km of toll plaza, and then issue the pass.“The monthly pass will be issued automatically and people can renew them using the app as well. People will still have the option to visit a toll plaza for this purpose,” another official said.The Rajyamargyatra app, developed by C-DAC with NHAI’s IT team, has been downloaded by more than one crore highway users. It has around a dozen user-friendly features, including annual pass with trip counter, route planner with toll rates, highway amenities locator and weather information. People can use it to report potholes and defunct streetlights as well.
