NMC gets complaint about Jamnagar college

Ahmedabad: An anonymous and confidential complaint submitted to the National Medical Commission (NMC) has levelled serious allegations of misconduct against a senior authority in the Department of Pathology at M P Shah Government Medical College, Jamnagar.The complaint alleges abusive behaviour, intimidation, harassment and misuse of authority involving postgraduate residents, junior doctors and other staff.The allegations include the use of humiliating language, inappropriate conduct and behaviour allegedly involving alcohol. The complaint also raises concerns over the dignity and safety of female residents, including allegations of suggestive behaviour.The complainant has alleged that residents were subjected to excessive pressure and mental harassment and may have feared that refusing demands could adversely affect their assessments, postings or careers.Another allegation concerns postgraduate doctors allegedly being required to perform duties at a private pathology laboratory near Jamnagar bus stand. The complaint has sought an independent inquiry into whether residents were compelled, directly or indirectly, to undertake such work.It also alleges that there were expectations of expensive gifts or personal favours and questions whether complaints raised earlier were adequately examined.
