Panaji:Morjim: Nine youngsters from Delhi were rescued from drowning off Morjim beach on Tuesday evening after being swept into deeper waters by a strong current despite repeated warnings from lifeguards and police personnel.According to Drishti Marine, they were part of a group of around 25 visitors, of whom 15 entered the sea. As the group drifted further offshore, six managed to swim back to safety while nine required assistance.“Our lifesavers responded immediately, bringing four people ashore using rescue boards, two on a jet ski and three with rescue tubes,” a Drishti Marine official said.The rescue operation was carried out by lifeguards Vinod Salelkar, Vikram Talkar, Sant Parab, Vikas Chavan and Mahadev Gaude, with support from an onshore team that coordinated medical assistance.All nine rescued individuals are reported to be in stable condition.
