Jaipur: National Green Tribunal (NGT) has given one week to the managements of SMS Stadium and Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur, to file their replies in a case regarding water use amid concerns over water scarcity. The matter was heard by NGT’s principal bench on Aug 17. In its earlier order, the tribunal restrained the two stadiums in Jaipur and Raipur as well as Dr DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai from conducting sports activities without its permission after the three failed to respond to repeated notices.During the latest hearing, counsel for Jaipur and Raipur stadiums sought a week’s time to file their replies. The Mumbai stadium informed the tribunal that its reply had already been filed. Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA), however, sought time to examine the reply. The tribunal was also informed that Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi filed an additional reply in compliance with its earlier directions. The CGWA said it would compile the required information after receiving the pending replies from the stadiums concerned. The matter has been listed for the next hearing on Sept 28.
