Varanasi: A 35-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her nephew following a dispute at Gadwar Chauraha under the Nagra police station area of Ballia district on Tuesday night.Police said Kanchan Bharti, alias Kanchan Devi, was inside her clinic when she was attacked on the head with an iron rod and she died.The incident was reported by her husband, Siyaram, resident of Gadwar Mor, who lodged a written complaint with the Nagra police. Based on the complaint, a case was registered against the accused, identified as Balkeshwar alias Bittu.Local police reached the spot soon after receiving information and sent the body for post mortem. Senior police officers, along with dog squad and forensic team, inspected the scene.Ballia SP Omveer Singh said three police teams were formed to arrest the accused. He was later traced with the help of manual intelligence and technical surveillance.Police said the accused fled on a motorcycle after the incident but was injured after being hit by a pickup vehicle while escaping. He was arrested and is under treatment at the trauma centre of the district hospital under police security.During interrogation, the accused told police he was unhappy with his aunt’s conduct. An argument broke out between them, during which he picked up the iron rod and attacked her.
