Dimapur: Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio on Sunday called for the preservation of indigenous knowledge, traditions and cultural heritage.In a social media post on International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples on Sunday, Rio acknowledged the traditions and wisdom of indigenous elders and knowledge keepers. He urged all to strengthen their communities and celebrate the cultures that shape the nation.Nagaland governor Nand Kishore Yadav also paid tribute to tribal communities for maintaining an intimate bond with nature and preserving the rich culture, traditions and heritage.Deputy CM Y Patton honoured indigenous communities whose knowledge, traditions and relationship with nature have enriched humanity across generations.Addressing an International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples event organised by the Nagaland Indigenous Peoples Forum in Dimapur, Nagaland assembly Speaker Sharingain Longkumer stressed the need to strengthen traditional institutions and constitutional safeguards to preserve indigenous identity, culture and heritage amid rapid development and generational change.
