MUMBAI: A 32-year-old man was defrauded of Rs 70,000 after clicking on a malicious, obscene link on a social media platform on his mobile phone.According to the police, the victim came across a page on Facebook that featured obscene photographs of women. Upon clicking one of the images, his mobile phone reportedly began to overheat and was subsequently compromised by hackers.Moments later, a series of unauthorized online transactions was initiated. Soon after, the victim received a bank notification alerting him of a Rs 70,000 debit from his bank account.Realizing he had been defrauded, the man lodged an online complaint via the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and later approached the police, news agency PTI reported.The Sakinaka Police have registered a case against an unidentified individual for cheating under the provisions of the Information Technology (IT) Act.An investigation has been launched into the case, police informed.(With agency inputs)
