Mumbai: Municipal commissoner Ashwini Bhide, who carried out a surprise early morning inspection of the city and the eastern suburbs for sanitation work on Wednesday, directed the administration to implement innovative ideas of citizens associations, service-oriented organisations and housing societies, besides seeking guidance from institutions like Tata Institute of Social Sciences for keeping the city clean.Bhide also directed the administration to map densely populated settlements and slums in each of the wards, where waste is collected in larger quantities at such places. Bhide sought for micro-observation of such areas and creation of geographic information system for it.She directed that a framework for waste collection on every road in that ward be prepared, that a record be maintained of waste collected by the designated organizations, and that a model be developed by studying it.
