Ahmedabad: A short, sharp morning downpour transformed the city’s early routine on Tuesday, as rain swept across several pockets between 6am and 9 m.While Ahmedabad averaged a modest 10.36 mm over those three hours, the eastern suburbs bore the brunt of the storm, catching one to two inches of rain that quickly inundated low-lying neighbourhoods.Kathwada emerged as the hardest-hit pocket, recording 45mm deluge that submerged four to five key locations, including the main approach outside Madhumalti Apartments. Nearby eastern hubs also experienced steady morning downpours, with Odhav logging 24mm, Hanspura 25.5mm, Nikol 21.5mm, Vastral 20.5mm, and Naroda 17mm.

In contrast, western areas saw a lighter, milder spell. Paldi, Usmanpura, Chandkheda, Ranip, and Navrangpura recorded between 8mm and 9mm, while peripheral pockets like Bodakdev, Science City, Memnagar, and Thaltej registered just 5mm to 6mm. Central and southern areas maintained steady single-digit to low-double-digit tallies, led by Kalupur at 11mm, with Asarwa, Maninagar, and Indrapuri each receiving 10.5mm.
