Kolkata: Chief minister Suvendu Adhikari on Friday visited actor and BJP’s national executive committee member Mithun Chakraborty at a private hospital off EM Bypass, where he underwent a surgery. During his 10-minute visit, the CM also had a talk with doctors about Mithun’s health condition.The actor-turned-politician had a minor operation on Thursday night. “He informed our party’s state president, Samik Bhattacharya, and me about it on Thursday night. He did not want publicity. He is doing well, he will be released soon,” said the CM. “Distinguished film actor and BJP central committee member Mithun Chakraborty has been admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata due to health issues. I visited the hospital today to see him. I spoke with him and enquired about his health condition. I pray to the Almighty God for his speedy recovery,” the CM posted online.Peerless Hospital doctors said they removed a metal plate from Mithun’s right elbow on Thursday. The plate was from a surgery in Bangalore two years ago for a fracture. “These are known complications of the kind of surgery the actor underwent about two years ago. The plate was impinging on the ulnar nerve. We tried conservative treatment which did not work. So, we undertook the surgery that lasted about an hour. There is already an improvement in the finger sensation,” said orthopaedic surgeon Somnath De, department head at Peerless Hospital.
