Silchar: The decomposed body of a 21-year-old YouTuber missing since Sept 17 was recovered from a waterlogged paddy field near Chandkhira in Sribhumi district on Monday.The deceased was identified as Jubel Ahmed, son of Rajibul Islam, from Hatirgul in Patharkandi near the India-Bangladesh border.Police sources said residents detected a foul smell from a paddy field along NH-8 and found the body about 20 metres from the highway. Police recovered it and sent it for an autopsy. A search found Rs 7,020, a mobile phone and an identity card on Ahmed. His slippers were also found nearby.A damaged motorcycle was found in the area on Friday night during Vishwakarma Puja celebrations. It was taken to the police station after its rider could not be traced. Police are investigating whether it was connected to Ahmed’s death.Some residents suspect Ahmed may have been in an accident and fallen into the field, while others suspect foul play. Police have not endorsed either theory and are examining all angles.
