Gandhinagar: Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) will operate over 1,000 buses and 30,000 additional trips to ferry an estimated 15 lakh pilgrims to Ambaji fair this year, govt said on Monday.Deputy chief minister Harsh Sanghavi on Monday flagged off the special bus services and inaugurated new buses ahead of the annual pilgrimage. The special operations will continue till Sept 26 through Palanpur, Mehsana, Himmatnagar and Ahmedabad divisions.GSRTC has planned continuous services on key routes connecting Ambaji with Gabbar, Abu Road, Danta, Deesa, Palanpur and Siddhpur, besides Mehsana, Visnagar, Becharaji, Vadnagar and Kheralu. Services will also connect Ambaji with Himmatnagar, Idar, Khedbrahma, Ahmedabad, Shamlaji and Bhiloda.A govt statement said that last year, around 900 buses made 28,506 trips and transported 13.1 lakh passengers during the fair and this year, govt is expanding deployment of buses to the pilgrimage site.
