Hyderabad: In a shocking discovery, remains of a 60-year-old woman, who had been missing for three days, were found in an oil palm plantation on the outskirts of Narayanapuram in Khammam’s Sathupalli mandal.Vedulla Venkata Narasamma of Thumbur village was reported missing by her family, following which Sathupalli police registered a case and began investigating and questioned her son-in-law Gundala Tirupathi Rao. During a search, police found human bones in the oil palm plantation in what are believed to be of Narasamma’s.Though Tirupathi Rao was questioned in connection with the woman’s disappearance, his alleged involvement in the killing, however, has not been established by police.Sathupalli inspector T Srihari said the remains appeared to indicate that the woman was brutally attacked and her body was burnt. “It is not yet confirmed that Tirupathi Rao had killed Narasamma. We have only found human bones and are investigating the case,” he said.Police have intensified searches at the plantation site and are working to establish the identity of the remains and the circumstances surrounding Narasamma’s disappearance and her suspected death.
