Gorakhpur: Unidentified miscreants smashed the rear window of a parked SUV and decamped with a bag containing Rs 5 lakh cash outside a marble showroom near Fatima Hospital in Shahpur on Monday evening. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the area.According to police, Vivek Kumar Nigam of Deoria and Ajit Singh of Kushinagar jointly run a marble and tiles showroom opposite Fatima Hospital. They had reportedly gone to Mohaddipur to hand over Rs 5 lakh to a person. As the person did not turn up, they return to their showroom around 6.30pm.As rain started while they were preparing to shut the showroom, they remained inside the shop for some time, leaving the cash-filled bag inside their parked SUV. In the meantime, three unidentified men came and smashed its rear window, before fleeing with the cash bag, ATM cards, Aadhaar cards and other important documents.On receiving information, CO Gorakhnath Ravi Kumar Singh and Shahpur police reached the spot, inspected the scene and seized CCTV footage from the area. Police registered a case and launched an investigation to identify and arrest the accused.
