Pune: Heated arguments over riding a two-wheeler turned violent in Dehu Road on Sunday evening when three minors assaulted two youths with sharp weapons. One of the youths lost the thumb of his right hand in the attack, Dehu Road police said.The police have detained three 17-year-old youths under sections 115 and 118 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Indian Arms Act. An officer from the Dehu Road police said the victim and the trio had a heated argument over riding a two-wheeler two days ago. Around 5pm on Sunday, when the victim and his friend were standing near Mari Mata Chowk in Dehu Road, the trio reached there and started beating them. “One of the trio took out a sharp weapon. To avoid a blow to his head, the victim tried to block the attack with his hand. During the scuffle, his right thumb was chopped off,” the officer said.He said the incident caused panic among people in the area. However, some people managed to catch the youth carrying the sharp weapon, while his two accomplices fled. “We detained the duo later,” he said.
