Aizawl: Aizawl: Mizoram Police seized different kinds of illegal drugs worth around Rs 1,059.62 crore during the 2025-26 financial year, based on rates provided by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), New Delhi, state home minister K Sapdanga told the state legislative assembly.In a written reply to a question from Mizo National Front (MNF) MLA Rasik Mohan Chakma, Sapdanga said the police seized drugs worth over Rs 846.60 crore during 2024-25 while they already seized Rs 303.74 during this year (from April to July, 2026).He said 333 cases were registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, during 2024-25, leading to the arrest of 428 people. During 2025-26, 340 cases were registered and 512 people were arrested.From April to July this year, 163 cases were registered under the ND&PS Act and 238 people were arrested so far, he said.Sapdanga said the records maintained by Mizoram Police were not connected with the records of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence. However, almost all seizure records of the Assam Rifles were shared with the Mizoram govt, as the state police and the Assam Rifles have conducted several joint anti-drug operations.
