New Delhi: Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Monday suspended a junior engineer (JE) for dereliction of duty following the death of a 15-year-old boy after falling into an open drain in Jasola Saturday.Anuj Kumar, JE (M)-IV, has been suspended with immediate effect as a disciplinary proceeding against him is contemplated, an MCD office order stated. He will be paid subsistence allowance as per rule and shall not leave the station without permission, it added.Chasing a kite Saturday morning, Mithun fell into the open drain. His body is yet to be found. Two fire tenders were sent to the spot after receiving the information around 11.50am Saturday and a search operation was launched by the east Delhi district administration, a boat club team and NDRF personnel.Chief minister Rekha Gupta had asked the chief secretary to provide information about the drain within an hour and suspend the guilty officer.
