Rajkot: A 38-year-old mathematics teacher at a govt school was arrested for allegedly raping a 14-year-old student after threatening to fail her in exams.The teacher allegedly continued sexually abusing the girl for around four months.The girl’s mother lodged a complaint with Rajkot Taluka police, following which a case was registered under BNS and Pocso Act.According to the complaint, the girl had studied in a govt school in Rajkot from Classes 6 to 8, where the accused taught mathematics. From Jan 2026, he allegedly made sexual advances towards her when she was alone in the classroom. When she objected, he allegedly threatened to fail her in mathematics.On Jan 9, the teacher allegedly asked the girl to accompany him to his home, promising to help her secure better marks. When she refused, he forced her into his car and took her to his flat in the Mavdi Road area, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her. He then allegedly dropped her near the school.The complaint further alleges that the accused continued sexually abusing the girl until April, at the end of the academic year. He allegedly threatened to fail her and harm her if she disclosed the incidents to anyone.On Sept 23, the girl disclosed the incidents to her mother after she noticed that the girl appeared unusually subdued at home and asked her what was wrong. “The accused, who is married, has been arrested and that investigators are collecting evidence, including CCTV footage,” said investigation officer SR Meghani.
