Mapusa court orders NDPS charges against UP native

Panaji: A Mapusa court directed that charges be framed under the NDPS Act against 22-year-old Priyanshu Sharma, a native of Uttar Pradesh, after he was allegedly found in illegal possession of narcotic substances at Pilerne during a raid conducted in Oct 2022.The anti-narcotics police carried out the raid between 2.30am and 5.30am at Namoshi, Guirim, and seized 20 grams of suspected ganja and 2 grams of suspected MDMA from Sharma’s possession.Police also seized the scooter allegedly used for transporting the contraband.The investigating officer stated that while returning to Panaji from Mapusa after patrolling duty at around 12.50am, the police received reliable and specific information that the suspect would be delivering narcotic drugs to prospective customers between 2am and 2.30am by concealing them in a scooter.Based on the physical description of the suspect and the clothes he was wearing a police raiding party was formed. to nab himDuring the search, suspected ganja and suspected MDMA were allegedly found concealed in the dickey of the scooter.The report of the chemical analyst later confirmed the contraband to be ganja and methamphetamine.
