Man with kidney ailment jumps 9 floors to death

Noida: A 65-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the ninth floor of a residential tower in Sector 100 on Wednesday. Police said a preliminary investigation shows he had been suffering from a kidney ailment and had severe depression. Hours before the incident, he had gone to meet one of his friends, who is battling the same disease.The man was a resident of Sector 35 and had been staying temporarily in the ninth-floor flat belonging to his sister at Lotus Boulevard. The incident took place around 4pm and he died on the spot.A team from Sector 39 police station and a forensic field collected evidence from the scene. The body was later sent for an autopsy. No suicide note was recovered from the deceased. Police added that they are recording statements of family members.The final rites of the deceased were conducted on Thursday.Meanwhile, police have appealed to the public to pay close attention to the mental and emotional well-being of family members suffering from chronic illnesses, depression or prolonged stress. Officials emphasised the importance of timely counselling, emotional support and regular care to help prevent such incidents.
