JAIPUR: A 33-year-old fugitive, whose brazen sexual harassment of a pregnant woman triggered citywide outrage after CCTV footage surfaced, was brought to Jaipur on a production warrant on Friday after a failed escape attempt in court in Madhya Pradesh.Police said the accused was brought to Jaipur under a production warrant after he sustained fractures while trying to flee custody in Morena.Police have identified the accused as Rahul Ghuraiya alias Raj alias Raj, a resident of Bijauli in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.His aides — Shubham Aggarwal alias Siddharth, 29, a resident of Niwai in Tonk currently living in Malviya Nagar, and Babulal Barala, 28, of Muhana — were also arrested for sheltering and aiding him.Investigators said the main accused confessed during interrogation to molesting at least four women at different locations across Jaipur over the past month.DCP (East) Ranjita Sharma said the accused has a long criminal history, with 33 cases registered in Madhya Pradesh and five in Jaipur, including offences under the Arms Act, attempt to murder, assault, PITA Act and molestation.Police also seized a car used by the trio during their time on the run. For nearly six months, the three were operating spa centres in Jawahar Circle and Sanganer areas, which investigators are now examining for possible links to other crimes.The case that sparked outrage dates back to March 25, when he allegedly molested a pregnant woman in Malviya Nagar — an incident captured on CCTV but reported formally only on April 12 after the video went viral. As public anger grew, the accused vanished. With help from his associates, he fled Jaipur in a car and began moving between cities, constantly shifting locations to evade arrest.Police said the accused altered his appearance by shaving his beard and moustache and took shelter in multiple locations, including Pali, parts of Gujarat, Gwalior and Morena. In a calculated move, he resurfaced on April 15 at a Morena court, quietly filing a surrender application in a 2018 dacoity case.City Police moved court in Morena to secure his custody through a production warrant. However, when produced before the court, he made a desperate bid to escape. He was overpowered after sustaining fractures in his hands and legs during the attempt.
