Chandigarh: A dispute over Rs 400 allegedly sought for purchasing liquor turned violent near the scooter market in Sector 43 Friday, leaving two brothers injured in a knife attack. The accused fled after the assault and remains at large.Police said the injured brothers, Ankit and Harikesh, were rushed to Govt Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, in a PCR vehicle after alerting the police. Both sustained knife injuries to their hands and are undergoing treatment.In his complaint, Ankit, a resident of Attawa village in Sector 42, said he runs a bidi and cigarette kiosk in the Sector 43 scooter market. He alleged that the accused, Akhilesh, a Maloya resident who runs a tea stall nearby with his mother, approached him on Friday and demanded Rs 400 to buy liquor.When Ankit refused, Akhilesh allegedly pulled out a knife and attacked him. Hearing the commotion, Ankit’s brother Harikesh intervened, but the accused allegedly turned on him as well, causing injuries before fleeing.Police reached the spot shortly after receiving information and shifted the injured brothers to GMSH-16 for treatment. A case has been registered on the victims’ complaint, and raids are under way to trace and arrest the accused. Further investigation is in progress.
