Chandigarh: The Punjab govt’s Maavan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojna and Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna featured prominently in interactions with parents during the mega parent-teacher meeting (PTM), which saw participation from around 21 lakh parents across 19,200 govt schools in all 23 districts of the state. Ministers and AAP MLAs joined meetings at schools across Punjab, while departmental officials visited nearly 2,000 schools to assess arrangements and monitor proceedings.Education minister Harjot Singh Bains thanked parents for participating in the mega PTM in such large numbers and for expressing confidence in govt schools. He also congratulated the school education department on successfully organising the statewide initiative.The minister said, “The govt wants parents to be active partners in their children’s education. We will work closely with parents and teachers to improve learning, help children move forward and build a brighter future for them. Our goal is to make Punjab’s govt schools world-class and ensure that every child gets the best possible opportunities.”He added, “The mega PTM is an initiative of the Punjab govt to bring parents and teachers together to build our children’s future. We want parents to understand how their children are progressing and work with teachers to help them do even better. Our collective goal is to build a Rangla Punjab where every child receives quality education and has the opportunity to succeed.”Held under the theme ‘Har Din, Ik Kadam Agge’, the Mega PTM enabled parents to meet teachers, review their children’s report cards and discuss their academic progress, attendance and areas requiring improvement. Teachers also shared practical suggestions to help parents support their children’s learning at home.The meetings also familiarised parents with student-support initiatives of the school education department and highlighted the contribution of School Management Committees to school development.Parents shared their experiences of the Bhagwant Mann govt’s education reforms and welfare initiatives, including the Maavan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojna and Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna.One woman expressed gratitude for the Maavan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, saying the monthly financial assistance would help her manage household expenses and meet her children’s educational needs. “The money can help cover expenses such as notebooks, school supplies, uniforms and other essential requirements, while also providing greater financial independence,” she said.Another parent appreciated the govt’s education reforms, saying regular interactions with teachers helped families better understand their children’s progress. The parent said that identifying areas where a child needed additional support made it easier to work with teachers and provide help at home.
