TNN Ludhiana: A man allegedly set his in-law’s house on fire at Baba Nand Singh Nagar in Ayali Kalan after a dispute. He has been arrested. In his police complaint, Raj Kumar Shukla, a resident of Ayali Kalan, said his daughter Aarti was married to the accused, Ashish Tiwari. Ever since, Ashish had frequent fights with his wife and her family.The complainant said that on April 22, he was at work when his wife Sangeeta called to inform him that Ashish had barged into the house with a diesel can. He added that Ashish doused household articles with diesel and set them on fire. Thereafter, he allegedly threatened to kill the family and fled.Area residents tried to put out the fire but many household goods were gutted. Police registered a case under relevant sections of BNS. SHO, Sarabha Nagar police station said they arrested Ashish on Wednesday evening and seized the diesel can from him. This is yet another case of a property being burnt over disputes. In Feb this year, a 35-year-old woman set a house in Gurcharan Nagar ablaze after sprinkling it with petrol. In March, a 55-year-old hosiery worker suffered serious burn injuries while allegedly trying to set the rented house of his former co-worker on fire in New Madhopuri area.
