Varanasi: A 27-year-old man was arrested by Sarnath police on Wednesday on charges of rape, assault and criminal intimidation after a woman alleged that he sexually assaulted her on the pretext of providing her a job and threatened to circulate a video of the incident.The accused, Vicky Chauhan (27), is a resident of J-53 near Kali Mandir in the Chaukaghat area under Jaitpura police station limits.The arrest was made in connection with a case registered at Sarnath police station under Sections 376 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 67(A) of the IT Act.According to the complaint lodged by the survivor, the accused allegedly took her to his house on the pretext of providing work, established physical relations with her, assaulted her and threatened to circulate a video.Sarnath police said further legal action is underway.
